TDC becomes part of Govt Working Group on Non-Communicable Diseases

The Diabetes Centre’s CEO Mr. Tahir M. Abbasi has started a liaison with the top-level management of The Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (MoNHSR&C), Islamabad, since April 2020. That included communications with Dr. Zafar Mirza, the then Special Health Advisor to PM, Mr. Aamir Ashraf Khawaja, Secretary Health, Mr. Sajid Shah, Public Relations Officer, and many others.

The strategic objective was to become a part of the Ministry’s official “Working Group on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).” In this regard, after a consistent follow-up and rounds of written and verbal communications TDC was fortunate enough that on October 15, 2020, the Ministry’s delegation led by a focal person for Non-Communicable Diseases Dr. Samra Mazhar, Deputy Director (Programs-II), accompanied by Dr. Saira Kanwal, Research Associate HPSIU visited TDC.

TDC is really grateful to Dr. Samra Mazhar and the whole team of the Ministry for considering TDC as part of the Working Group on NCDs. In this regard, Mr. Tahir Abbasi has been invited to attend the Working Group meeting at the end of this month to share and discuss the National Action Plan for Pakistan that will be attended by Govt. Officials from Federal level and Provincial/Area levels and all partner organizations namely WHO, UNICEF, USAID, DFID, etc.
