Islamabad- 15 March-2016: Knowledge of a healthy life style and healthy eating will save our future generations from diabetes. The Diabetes Centre (TDC) team in collaboration with the management of Froebel’s International School Islamabad successfully arranged a day of Diabetes Awareness at the school. This interactive activity provided the students a better understanding of the disease, it’s clinical presentation, diagnosis, complications, and prevention.

The school principal as well as the Chief Medical Officer of TDC (Dr. Nasreen Naveed) addressed to a packed hall of excited and engaged students. The students also participated in drawing competition based on the themes of “Healthy Eating” and “Healthy Life style”.

During the event, a diabetes screening camp organized by the medical team of The Diabetes Centre also screened the school staff for diabetes. This screening included measuring of blood glucose levels, blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) of the staff, and counseling them on the next steps in their self care.

Previously, TDC team had successfully held a similar diabetes awareness session in Westminster School, Islamabad. Given the fact that more than 50% of the population of the country is less than 24 years of age, it is imperative that awareness of life-style diseases, such as diabetes, is enhanced in this population segment.

The Diabetes Centre continues to improve Diabetes Awareness in the community through similar programs in and around Islamabad, and is continuously looking for academic partners to collaborate. To organize a school Diabetes Awareness program, please visit our or contact
